If you are from any of the listed countries, there is a possibility to apply for an investor work permit based on your intention and plans in Canada and your previous business profile from your home country: Australia, Vietnam, USA, Mexico, Chile, New Zealand.

Not all countries are treated equally as per the reciprocal agreements in place between Canada. On many occasions, applicants would be eligible for multiple programs and we would guide you to a more appropriate immigration stream for the same results.

Minimum Eligibility Criteria

  • No minimum investment or net worth required;
  • Only ‘Substantial Investment’ required which is proportional to the industry/region;
  • Minimum 51% ownership of a new or existing business;
  • Applicant entering Canada to ‘develop and direct’ this business;
  • Minimum hire 1 Canadian in the new business;
  • Applicant should have experience or expertise in the industry.

Advantages

  • No minimum net worth requirements;
  • IELTS/TEF is not mandatory (however should be able to communicate when arriving at the Canadian border);
  • Can choose which city/region to invest/live;
  • No competition amongst other applicants to be selected;
  • No third party verification on assets in the home country;
  • No education requirements;
  • No exploratory trip or interview required prior to work permit approval.

Disadvantages

  • No direct path to PR nomination;
  • Have to be able to achieve a min IELTS 6.0 (in all 4 categories) to be able to be selected for PR through Express Entry FSW after min 1-year work in Canada. Possible options are available for spouse if employed also, not as a shareholder;
  • All points mentioned in the advantages section of this article (which are not mandatory) should be noted that would become mandatory if applicant chooses to convert to PR through Express Entry after minimum 1-year work experience. No other method of PR conversion possible. You can consider spouse as a PR applicant if she/she has Canadian work experience and IELTS or TEF.
