Ireland offers a permanent residency investment program which can also lead to citizenship/passport in Ireland. The Irish Investor Program ( IIP) has been explained below with the investment requirements.
This Irish immigration investment program is a five (5) year program to settle in Ireland for the investor and their family.
An initial investor visa is granted for a period of 2 years, after which the investor may renew the visa for another three (3) years.
After five (5) years of residency, the investor and their family are allowed to apply for Irish citizenship.
Investment requirements
The investor can choose one (1) of the following options for investment in Ireland. All investment has to be kept for a minimum of three (3) years for the first 3 options outlined below;
- EUR 1,000,000 investment of venture capital funding into an Irish business (3 years). The investment may be in one company or spread across a portfolio of ventures.
- EUR 1,000,000 investment in a government-approved investment bond.
- EUR 2,000,000 investment in an approved Real Estate Investment Trust in the Irish Stock Exchange. This can be invested across a multiple of different REITs in Ireland.
- A donation of EUR 500,000 which would be philanthropic in nature within Ireland (or EUR 400,000 per investor if five (5) or more investors pool their donations for one specific project).
Residency Validity and potential Passport
The initial residency is issued for 2 years. After the initial 2 years, the residency permit for the investor and their family can be renewed for another three (3) years. After five (5) years of residency, the investor and their family can apply for Irish citizenship. The minimum obligation to obtain an Irish passport/citizenship is 5 years of residency within 9 years.
