Which G5 or G7 country, as a group of the most advanced economies in the world, will offer you direct permanent residency before you step foot into the country? This includes the UK, US, Japan, France, Germany, Italy, and Canada. You should already know the answer to this question if you’re reading this article. Immigrate together with your family to Canada?
We will answer this question here to help you decide which program is best for you and your family to permanently move to Canada.

Many countries’ immigration is not as well structured to support your family to come and settle together. For example, in the UK, many immigration programs like the Startup Visa will allow your dependent family members such as spouse/partner and children to apply for their permanent settlement only after 2 years of the principal applicant having applied and receiving their permanent settlement status in the country, although they can be with them inside the UK on a temporary status.
In Canada, if you immigrate with your family then the following advantages would be available to you: children study for free in public elementary & high schools, your spouse or partner receive an open work permit, and if you have children who have graduated from high school and you have a closed work permit, your children can apply for local domestic tuition at major universities in Vancouver or even Toronto.
When the main applicant applies for their Canada PR, the entire family (including spouse/partner & dependent children) receive their permanent residency together. This is true even if they are not with you inside Canada and they are staying back in another country.
Let’s say you’re in Canada, they’re in the US on a temporary visa, if you obtain your PR, then they will also receive theirs no matter where they are.
Keep the following in mind, family members also need to go through a medical check and police clearance if you are immigrating through the economic or skilled immigration programs.
The interesting part is that we have programs in Canada that allow you and your family to apply for direct PR even before stepping foot into the country. Either through Express Entry, Provincial Employer sponsored streams, or business immigration programs.

You’re thinking of moving with the whole family, what are your options and how to decide? Here’s a quick rundown of the most viable solutions based on you and your family’s profile:
1- If you or your spouse/partner can come and study at a graduate level program, then the other partner/spouse can work inside Canada – after graduation 3 provinces offer direct PR without a job offer or work experience with graduate studies.
2- If you’re older and you only have a high school diploma, and you have a valid Canadian visitor visa, a valid US visa, or have children who are Canadian PR or citizens, then it’s easy to convert you inside Canada to potentially either a worker or student and get you on the right path to PR.
3- Let’s say you and your spouse/partner are over the age of 40, and not interested in studying. Then you either need to ask your family or relatives for help to find an employer to sponsor you OR you can issue your own job offer. Of course, it’s possible! That’s if you have a background in senior management and/or business ownership experience.
4- Maybe you’re not in a rush and want your children to come first and sponsor you in the future. If you have 8 years to spare of course you can send your children to study here, have them graduate, gain Canadian work experience, and then sponsor you after becoming Canadian permanent residents and meeting the 3 years of minimum income based on the family size.
And of course, there is a hack to save the 3 years so instead of waiting to get their PR and then declaring income for 3 years to sponsor you, they can start declaring income from the 1st year they arrive in Canada so by the time they receive their Canadian PR they are 100% eligible to sponsor you (the parents). And now you’re asking, they won’t be able to make that much money the first year they arrive as international students, then we say, but they can declare to the Canada Revenue Agency and pay the taxes on the declared income! Then you’re asking us: if they declare income and pay these taxes, that’s costly since it’s our own money that we’re putting from one pocket to the other. Our answer to you is: have you seen the investment figures needed to immigrate here through business immigration? Is 3-4 years of additional waiting time not important for you and your family? What if the gov’t and regulations change? If you’re still not convinced, then you clearly haven’t heard the famous saying that “time is money”.
5- And of course, another option you have to immigrate with your whole family to Canada is through investment or business immigration. Buy or start a business, branch, joint venture, or Startup. Our business immigration clients apply for their work permits together with their whole families when applying for these programs, and we can convert you to PR either within 1.5 years of being inside Canada or in certain cases even before you arrive.
